Recruitment, staffing and workforce consultancy

Anyone can send you applications. We send you a shortlist we can defend.

Averra Workforce recruits administrative, office support and human resources people for Canadian employers. We advise on how the hiring itself is run, and we partner with firms bidding larger contracts.

What is actually happening

The work an agency skips is the work that decides the hire.

Most agencies are paid for placements, so they are built for volume. Search wide, forward everything that nearly matches, and let the client do the sorting. The screening you were paying for quietly becomes your job again, except now it arrives as twelve profiles instead of two hundred applications.

It shows up later rather than sooner. In the interview where the person cannot evidence the thing their profile claimed. In the placement that ends in week three. In the role that gets re advertised because nobody wanted to say the shortlist was thin.

We would rather send you three people we have spoken to than twelve we have not.

That is a slower business and a smaller one. It is also the only version worth running, because a shortlist that cannot be defended is not a shortlist. It is a forwarded inbox.

What we do

Four things, and they tend to arrive together.

Most clients come to us with one role. The conversation usually turns out to be about more than the role.

01

Permanent recruitment

Intake, sourcing, screening, assessment and reference checking, through to a shortlist. You interview people we have already spoken to and verified.

02

Temporary and contract

People placed for a defined period, with timesheets, invoicing, records and reporting carried on our side rather than yours.

03

Workforce consultancy

Workforce planning, position profiling, salary benchmarking, assessment design, mentorship strategy, and train the trainer capability building.

04

Delivery partner

Someone else holds the contract and the client relationship. We deliver a defined piece of it under their name, either named in their bid before the award or brought in after it.

Black Professionals Canada, mentorship strategy and mentor training

Black Professionals Canada received funding under the federal Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative and engaged SkillUp Trades, which sits under the same company, to build and deliver the mentorship side of it. We designed the culturally grounded mentorship strategy and trained the mentors to carry it. The mentors work with Black offenders and ex offenders on career objectives, entrepreneurship, Black identity, and justice awareness and prevention.

We needed a culturally grounded strategy for working with Black offenders and ex offenders, and mentors actually equipped to sit with someone and talk about career, entrepreneurship, Black identity and justice. That is what they designed and delivered, and our mentors came out of it ready for the room.

Averra Workforce was named as a paid subcontractor on the bid, delivering a defined scope to the lead firm's direction and accountability.

Partner with us

When someone else holds the contract.

A delivery partner carries a defined piece of work under the name of the organization that holds it. You keep the contract and the client relationship. We deliver the recruitment, screening or workforce scope, to your accountability and your timetable.

Before the award

Named in your bid

A firm bidding work names us in the submission for the recruitment or workforce scope, with the evidence an evaluator will ask for. If you win it, we deliver it.

After the award

Brought in to deliver

An organization that already holds the contract or the funding brings us in for part of it. A non profit with a funded programme, an employer with a mandate and no people to run it.

  • Clear scope boundaries agreed before anything is written
  • Two federal supply arrangements you can point to
  • We work to your timetable, not ours
  • We never go round you to your client

How we work

Five things you can hold us to.

We respond inside the window

Short turnaround requirements are the norm in this work. We are structured to meet them rather than ask for an extension.

We propose people we can deliver

We do not put anyone forward that we have not spoken to and verified.

We price to the median band

Not the floor. A rate that cannot sustain a placement does not survive the assignment.

A small, vetted team

You speak to the people doing the work, not an account layer relaying messages. Whoever is on your file has read it.

Public sector

A department can contract with us against an existing instrument rather than running a separate procurement.
